CANAL & RIVER TRUST
BACKGROUND
The Canal & River Trust looks after more than 2,000 miles of waterways across the UK, including the Nottingham and Beeston Canal. With lockdown putting a renewed focus on the benefits of using the canal for exercise and enjoyment, the charity was looking to take advantage of the momentum with the launch of the Nottingham Canal Improvement Partnership.
APPROACH
With Covid restrictions making an in-person launch event difficult, we worked alongside the Canal & River Trust to develop a 40-minute live webisode to introduce the partnership, featuring broadcast quality pre-recorded interviews with key stakeholders including Coca-Cola, 200 Degrees and Nottingham City Council.
RESULTS
After filming before restrictions were reintroduced, the webinar went live during the second national lockdown, vindicating the decision to opt for a virtual event. More than 100 attendees tuned in, with thousands more watching on demand. The full event and a shortened highlights package were uploaded to the Canal & River Trust YouTube channel and shared with its 10,000 subscribers.
Crucially, the webinar garnered support from local businesses in the East Midlands, many of which have continued to support the trust’s work to improve the experience along Nottingham’s canal front.
