Domaine Porto Carras & the European Union
BACKGROUND
We were engaged by Novacert – the largest marketing consultancy in Greece – to manage, host and engage with eight influential names in the UK wine industry for an exciting press trip to explore Greece’s newest era of wine.
The project was co-funded by the European Union to promote the region’s unique PDO Slopes of Meliton and PGI Sithonia as well as the wines that originate there, including featured labels from Domaine Porto Carras; the largest vineyard in Greece.
APPROACH
Wine professionals were given a tour of Thessaloniki and the extended Halkidiki peninsula to discover more about the innovative viticulture methods and history, along with the terroir from which the wines derived.
Hosted by Domaine Porto Carras New Era, guests explored varieties such as the Assyrtiko and the famed Malagouzia grape, which was said to have originated there more than a century ago. Tastings were accompanied by food from the traditional Greek cuisine, like spanakopita and baklava.
Our work involved guest relations, flight transfers, organisational admin, and social media. Ahead of the trip we appointed a sommelier to introduce the wines via a live tasting at the London Wine Fair, and hosted several sit-down dinners with other top industry players around London restaurant venues.
RESULTS
Our work resulted in coverage in reputable wine industry media titles, reaching more than 70,000 readers. In addition, the project saw videos produced by wine industry specialists, including importers, suppliers, influencers, press, and sommeliers across social media platforms – and on the World’s Best Vineyards YouTube channel.
The project and brand were featured across a several reputable online and print media publications inc Euposia Wine and More, Wine Educators.com, Good Wine Tours, Criterion Wine Tours, World’s Best Vineyards YouTube, London Wine Academy, Foodpedia, International Wine Challenge and Canopy newsletter.
